HAIR FAQS

1 -Where does Brazilian Braids or hair come from ?
The hair comes from people who donate their hair in the name of prayer. In India, it is very common for people to sacrifice their hair in return for prayers that have been answered by their God. The Temples in India will cut the hair from the willing devotees, and then auction the hair off to distributors. The proceeds from the auctions will be returned back into the community In various charitable forms. Until recently, many end users thought that the hair is coming from Brazil, but in reality it does not. Brazilians are actually buying hair from India. We are one of the rare companies in India that has the proper knowledge on how to correctly manufacture with Indian human Hair, permanent artificial deep curly or "molado" curly for Europe or Brazil.

2 - Why is Indian hair so special?
Indian hair is highly regarded in the hair industry because of its flexibility, durability, and texture. Indian hair is naturally thick and lustrous, so it gives the best possible styling and installation options for extensions. The hair is also naturally dark, so it works great with most braiding and weaving applications for women of color, but works for everyone. Remy Indian hair goes hand in hand with long lasting quality, so you can rest assured if the hair is guaranteed to be Remy Indian hair. All of our hair is guaranteed.

3 - What is Virgin Hair?
Virgin hair is not processed in any way- it is 100% natural, so there is no damage to the cuticles. The cuticles protect the hair so it is important that they are intact. Our hair is hand selected to be soft and beautiful. A lot of care is taken so that all the cuticle remains in the same direction to prevent tangling. All of our virgin hair is Remy. The end result in soft beautiful long lasting hair with lots of body. You will be 100% satisfied with our hair, guaranteed!

4 - What is Remy cuticle hair?
Real Remy cuticle hair is the highest-grade human hair available and comes from one individual. The hair is sectioned and allowed to fall into its natural growing pattern. The hair is then cut And carefully sewn to maintain the natural cuticle direction so matting and tangling are virtually eliminated. Our hair is real Remy Cuticle hair.

5 - What is Single Drawn Hair?
Every hair piece looks like a ponytail made of different lengths of hair. The very short hairs have been removed. For example: a hair piece of 16" to 19" inches of Remy quality and single drawn * Has hair lengths of 16", 17", 18" and 19". All hair is in the same direction because it all came from the head of a single donor.

6 - What is Double Drawn Hair?
Every hair piece contains only hair of the same length. This procedure is done by hand, not by machine. For example: a hair piece of 20 inches of Remy quality and double drawn has hair lengths of 20" only. It contains no hair shorter than that. In non-Remy hair all the hair is not in one direction this kind of hair is used for manufacturing paint brushes or hair for dolls.

7 - What do the terms "bulk" and "wefted" mean?
Bulk hair is loose hair that is used for braiding and many other hair extension styles. We deliver it tied in a bundle ready for use. Wefted hair is hair used for weaving. It is sewn or bonded (with hair glue) into a track ready for the weaving process.

8 - What is the difference between machine weft and hand tied weft?
Hand tied wefts are made by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread, this process is done by hand. Machine wefts are made by sewing strands of hair together With a hair sewing machine. In Machine weft, there is double wefting (normal, usual wefting) and the new single weft, sometimes called thin weft or light weft

9 - What is the best way to cut a weft?
The proper way to cut a weft is from the hair side, to the sewn edge, and not the other way around. That way you can follow the hair "path" and assure yourself a proper division. It is also recommended to place a single drop of glue at the cut ends to avoid fraying or shedding.

10 - How much hair Do I need?
If you are getting a full Braid Weave the average person need about six to eight ounces of hair some will need more some will need less. It is best to buy two packs to make sure you have enough. You can always use the leftover hair later. If you are using hair over 18" or longer, you might need an additional pack. If you are getting tracks, one pack is enough for four to five tracks up to 18" hair length. If you are getting the hair bonded, one pack is enough for four to five tracks up to 18" hair length. If you are getting fusion or "micro linking" you need to consult your stylist.

11 - Why Choose Hand Tied Wefts?
Hand tied wefts are done by hand. They will lay flat against your scalp to give you a more natural look and significantly reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts . Hand tied wefts come in one long track and the length of the track depends on the length of the hair. All of our wefts are reinforced to prevent shedding. There are 2 types of hand tied weft, 8 thread size or micro 3 thread size, which is preferred amongst stylists as well as those that wear them.

12 - How Wide is the Weft in Inches?
The width of the wefts depend on the length of the hair. The longer the length, the shorter the width... so if you decide to go with longer hair and want to cover more of your head we would suggest 2 or possibly 3 packs of hair. For example, a 16" weft is around 9 feet long. Usually the pack weight is 100 grms, but some people require 4 oz (ounces) so we also offer 113 gm bundles in the USA and most english spoken languages countries.

13 - Can I color this hair?
Yes, as it is 100% virgin human hair which is not processed in any way. So you can color the hair. Generally it is advised to make any major color changes after having your extensions applied. You can color as often as you'd like.

14 - What type of hair care products should I use?
Treat this hair like your own hair. Use good quality shampoo and conditioning products. Avoid using heavy greasy pomades.

15 - Can I go swimming?
You may go in swimming pools and hot tubs. It is best to wash the hair right after swimming. Avoid getting hair in salt water as the salt can take all the moisture out of the hair and it will lead to tangling of the hair. Never braid your hair and go in salt water. It is best to wear it loose. Use plenty of conditioner after swimming to avoid tangling.

16 - How long does it last?
100% Pure Virgin Indian Remy hair can last for a very long time, depending on how you maintain it. Treat it like your own hair and take good care of it for it to last even longer. If you still have questions please email us or consult your hair stylist.

HAIR CARE & TREATMENT

How long do hair extensions last?
The longevity of hair extensions is based on the care provided by the individual. Usually, hair extensions last 3-6 months, although we have customers that have worn their same hair extensions for over a year! Also, some customers have their extensions taken out temporarily and re-applied as human hair is much more durable than synthetic. A regular visit to your stylist is not a bad idea to extend the life of your hair extensions.

Can I color the hair?
Yes, although it is recommended that this only be done with the darker colors. If coloring is performed, it is recommended that the hair is bleached to make the desired color versus adding dye.

Can I comb/brush my hair?
You are able to comb your hair but it is suggested to use a wide tooth comb or paddle brush, and use very gentle strokes. When brushing your hair, start from the bottom and work your way up while holding the top part to keep it from shedding or stretching. Be careful not to pull too hard when combing your hair.

Can I wash, shampoo and blow-dry the hair?
Yes. Since all of our hair is human, it can be treated like your own hair. We suggest waiting to shampoo for 4-5 days after installing extensions. We suggest some air drying, and using a diffuser so the heat does not cause damage the hair bonding materials. Typically, hair will dry out sooner when using blow dryers or heat implements.

Does hair lose its wave after becoming wet?
Hair should not lose its wave in the rain or swimming, in part because Indian hair has a natural wave to it. There are, of course, precautions to take to protect your hair when swimming such as applying conditioner before/after swimming and washing your hair after swimming to remove the chlorine. It is also recommended to wash your hair if you get caught in the rain.

Can I perm, flat iron and blow-dry my extensions?
Yes.

How do I wash my hair extensions?
Wash your hair in one direction from top to bottom. Avoid washing hair upside down in the sink. Use shampoos and conditioners that are for dry hair and add moisture. Wash hair right after swimming.

What types of products should I use?
Moisture is the most important thing. Do not use products for oily hair or strippers that remove chlorine or product build up as this will leave the hair dry. Use styling products that are zero or low alcohol. Products for dry hair are the best, while spray in conditioners and glossifiers are recommended for the ends.

Can I swim and go in the ocean?
Yes, you can absolutely go in swimming pools and hot tubs. It is best to wash hair right after swimming. Avoid getting hair in salt water as the salt can take all the moisture out of the hair and tangle. Never braid your hair and go into salt water. It is best to wear it down. Also, add a spray in conditioner after swimming.

Does it hurt when having my extensions applied or removed?
No, the extension process is designed to be painless. The only item some clients experience is a slight pull.

We accept all forms of payment, including cash, Bank Wire Transfer, Money Gram, Western Union, PayPal (fees added), all major credit cards, as well as local checks. You can also come and pick up your hair at our office in New Orleans by appointment.
