Keratin tips are for using the "strand by strand" method of applying extensions to hair. Keratin tipped hair comes in "i" tip, flat, v, and u tips. I tipped hair is for the MicroLink method, which is the least invasive extension method. U, V, and Flat tips are for heated methods.

Mostly preferred by those with smooth or thick hair, strand by strand applications are the most effective when easily hidden under full coverage hair. The keratin heated method of attaching these strands causes minimal damage, and lasts as long as weaving. The average wearer can keep the tips in undetected for up to 4 months.  After that, the technician will reapply the same hair, and the cycle continues. Most wearers can wear the keratin tipped hair for well over a year with repeated applications and proper care.
